Extension to ADR Certificates
DVSA have asked us to highlight that The Secretary of State for Transport has announced an extension to ADR (dangerous goods) certificates. This will apply to certificates that expire between 27 September 2021 and 31 December 2021, extending their validity until 31 January 2022.
This will help to alleviate the current shortage of qualified ADR drivers by permitting those who are already qualified to spend more time on road instead of attending refresher training. DVSA encourage ADR providers to focus their training capacity on initial ADR driver training courses when possible, thereby increasing the total number of qualified ADR drivers in the UK.
SQA will provide further communication to training providers in due course relating to the extension and how this will impact courses for drivers returning to refresh their ADR licence after it has expired. DVSA also thank you for your ongoing contribution both to UK road safety and maintaining the supply chain.
